The Friends of Castlemaine Art Museum will host the first CAM Conversation for the year on Australia Day.
Jenny Long is a free-lance curator based in Central Victoria. In this presentation she will discuss some of the ideas behind the current Castlemaine Art Museum exhibition The Unquiet Landscape. She will explore the relationship of the works in the exhibition to the novel Kangaroo by D H Lawrence and tease out some of the unexpected connections and themes. Jenny will talk about how her approach to curating has changed and evolved over the years. In particular, she will draw on some of her recent projects and exhibitions at the University of Melbourne to illustrate the pleasures and pitfalls of developing displays that combine artwork with material from historical, scientific or archival collections.
Drinks and Snacks will be served.
Book with Jenny by January 24th via phone or email. Payment can be made on the day.
Come and help us all support CAM.
